A former ambassador and premier of New Brunswick is issuing a stark warning about the future of Atlantic Canada.

Frank McKenna says the region could be in jeopardy if more isn't done to increase its population through immigration.

McKenna -- who is now deputy chairman of the T-D Bank Group -- spoke at a day-long summit being held by the Public Policy Forum in Fredericton.

Nova Scotia's Office of the Fire Marshal and the Medical Examiner's Service have been called in, but the scene remains under the control of the R-C-M-P's major crime unit. (The Canadian Press)

The body of a 59-year-old man was later found inside the home.

R-C-M-P and the fire marshal's office are continuing to investigate to determine the exact cause of the fire but police say it is not believed to be suspicious. (The Canadian Press)
