CONGRATULATIONS to Jennifer Williams (again) for her report "Council demands 'transparency' on affordable homes" (M.E.N. March 23).

I'm glad more Labour councillors led by James Wilson, together with the lone opposition voice John Leech, are pushing for public scrutiny to be possible over Section 106 funds which developers should contribute for developing communities but have been ducking for years.

It's a shame we get begrudging defences thrown up by Bernard Priest - deputy chief of Labour's 'Politburo'. His 'practical solution' sounds like a foot-dragging second best, or worse. For confidence to be restored we need them to publish the entire information. …
