'Poor Timekeeping' Costs Phil Place in England Line-Up

CITY youngster Phil Foden was reportedly made to sit out an England Under-19s game because of poor timekeeping.

The midfielder, who won the Golden Ball award as England won the Under-17s World Cup in October, was fast-tracked up the age groups for the March international fixtures. He was not needed as Paul Simpson's side won their first game 4-1 against Hungary last Wednesday, and he was again an unused substitute later in the week as England beat Latvia 3-0 to book their place at this summer's Under-19 European Championships with a game to spare.

However, according to reports, Foden and former City team-mate Jadon Sancho - who came off the bench to score against Hungary - were informed before the match that neither would be used after they had turned up late for a training session. …
