A state police trooper was injured Friday in a crash during a vehicle pursuit in Butler County.

The trooper's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The pursuit began when Butler City police attempted to stop David R. Coleman, 50, for a traffic violation about 4:40 p.m. at Hansen Avenue and Renaissance Drive.

Mr. Coleman, who had a 13-year-old relative in his car, did not pull over, police said.When he turned from South Duffy Road onto Whitestown Road, he struck a marked state police vehicle head-on, injuring the trooper inside, police said.

Police said they charged Mr. Coleman with fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, DUI and traffic violations. …
