Wounded Calgary constable recovering in hospital

CALGARY - A Calgary police officer who was shot this week is slowly recovering in hospital.

Const. Jordan Forget suffered two gunshot wounds on Tuesday and has a collapsed lung.

Les Kaminski of the Calgary Police Association says he has visited Forget twice in hospital and he seems to be doing well.

He says the five-year veteran of the police service is resilient and tough.

Kaminski says Forget is being supported by his family, other police and by lots of well wishes from the public.

He is hopeful Forget will make a full recovery.

"He has still got a great sense of humour," Kaminski said Thursday.

"He is doped up to help with the pain, but he is very coherent and I think he realizes what the consequences could have been. …
