BRANDON, Man. - Linden McCorrister has pushed the Brandon Wheat Kings into the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

McCorrister scored his second goal of the game at 10:37 of overtime as the Wheat Kings beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3 on Sunday to take the first-round series 4-2.

Dylan Myskiw held Brandon in it when needed, stopping 52-of-55 shots for the win. Stelio Mattheos and Evan Weinger also scored for the Wheat Kings.

Mark Rassell had a hat trick for the Tigers, who got a 42-save outing from Jordan Hollett. David Quenneville tacked on two assists.

Medicine Hat was the only team to earn a power-play opportunity, finishing 0 for 2 with the man advantage.

Brandon is the second team to advance in the Eastern Conference alongside the Lethbridge Hurricanes. …
