Businesses Told of Lorry Problems in Town Centre

BUSINESSES on Heywood's industrial parks have received a letter from the council urging them to stop lorries from being driven 'poorly' through the town centre.

Concerns were raised at a Heywood Township meeting about the number of HGVs passing through the centre that were being badly driven on the way to and from business parks and that this could cause a danger to pedestrians as well as other road users.

In response, an 'ardent' letter has been sent to firms reminding them there are alternative routes and to inform them of the concerns that have been raised.

Heywood councillor Peter Rush, who was at the meeting, said: "Like every town we have this constant problem and we are looking to get traffic diverted round link roads.

"We are looking at every conceivable way to redirect traffic. …
