CALGARY. x-19s. Loved ones of a mother and daughter who were slain in Calgary in 2016 say they're concerned with delays in the justice system. Edward Downey will face trial 29 months after he was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Sara Baillie and five-year-old Taliyah (tah-LEE-ah) Marsman. That's one month shy of the time limit set out in the Supreme Court of Canada's landmark Jordan decision. Conservative M-P Michael Cooper says the Liberal government has not done enough to ensure serious cases aren't thrown out due to delays.
