Alberta's premier plans to hit the road to rally support for the Trans Mountain oil pipeline expansion.

Rachel Notley says she will soon head to Toronto and New York to speak to business leaders and will also take her message to a meeting of U-S and Mexican governors and Canadian premiers early next month.

Notley says it's critical to get the Trans Mountain expansion completed so that more oil can be transported from Alberta to the coast.

She says her N-D-P government will pass legislation giving her the authority to reduce the amount of oil flowing to B-C if that province continues to stall the pipeline. (The Canadian Press)



A Saskatchewan singer has been charged in the death of a retired North Battleford high school principal.

Saskatoon police say the body of 54-year-old Colin Sutherland was found in a city apartment on Sunday night.

Thirty-year-old Sheritta Kahpeaysewat appeared in court today on a charge of second-degree murder.

Sutherland's daughter says the two had been dating for about a year. (CTV Saskatoon, CKOM)

Calgary police say an officer who was shot last week has now been released from hospital.

Constable Jordan Forget (fohr-ZHAY') is continuing to recover at home with his family after suffering two gunshot wounds and a collapsed lung.

It's alleged that Forget was investigating a string of crimes, including a convenience store robbery, a carjacking and a suspected break and enter when he was shot.

The body of the suspect was later found in the ruins of a burned garage and Alberta's police watchdog is investigating the circumstances of the man's death. (The Canadian Press)



Sentencing has been postponed again for a Saskatchewan woman who was arrested following the seizure of illegal tobacco products in Yorkton. …
