Thugs Smash Windows of 10 Cars in Theft Spree

YOBS smashed in the windows and stole items from every car parked on a street near a block of upmarket city-centre flats.

Around 10 vehicles parked on Trentham Street, Castlefield, were targeted by crooks in the early hours of yesterday. Images show cars with smashed windows surrounded by shards of glass, with personal items strewn inside. It is unknown if anything valuable has been taken. A Toyota Aygo and three Mini Coopers were among the damaged vehicles.

Residents living in the St George's Island flats are understood to have been parking their vehicles on the street after double yellow lines were painted outside the apartment block. But their cars have been targeted on several occasions by thieves ever since.

Sophie Spicknell, 21, a student at the University of Salford, returned from working at a bar at around 5.30am to find her car damaged. …
