Duquesne might have lost a graduate transfer point guard Monday, but it gained a verbal commitment from Solon High School (Ohio) senior point guard Sincere Carry over the weekend.

Tarin Smith announced via Twitter he will transfer from Duquesne, and his release request from Duquesne has been granted.

Smith, who was named the Atlantic 10's sixth man of the year, will be a graduate transfer, immediately eligible to play at his new school. He plans on receiving his master's degree elsewhere, according to the tweet.

He averaged 12.4 points per game last season and was poised to become the most experienced player on the team.

That loss of leadership and experience might hurt the Dukes, but they'll still retain some depth at point guard with incoming freshman Brandon Wade as well as transfers Tavian Dunn-Martin and Craig Randall. …
