Scouting report - By the end of this series, the division rivals will have played six of their 19 games this season. The Cardinals won two of three last week in Milwaukee and lost the other in the bottom of the ninth.

Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong was six for 11 with a home run in the three-game set. Infielder Jonathan Villar had five singles in 12 at-bats for Milwaukee.

The Cardinals are expected to have new closer Greg Holland active for the series. But the Brewers won't have their closer, Corey Knebel, who will be out five more weeks or so with a hamstring injury suffered last Thursday. And they also won't have outfielder Christian Yelich, who injured an abdominal muscle night after he had hit a game-tying home run against the Cardinals. …
