POLICE seized cannabis plants worth £9,000 - from a house with a sign outside warning people to 'keep off the grass.' .

Officers in Prestwich, Bury, posted a cheeky social media quip after carrying out the raid - 'Your sign didn't work....' .

The seizure followed a crucial tip passed on to crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers.

Officers in Prestwich then carried out a covert operation before the strike on Tuesday.

A police source said: "The sign was in the back garden and it made us all laugh. It looks like the back garden had be re-laid, but it's almost like someone had put it there for the comedy value."

The raid was launched on a semidetached house on Heys Road, in Prestwich, opposite Prestwich Arts College.

No arrests were made, but investigations are continuing.

Police said the front lounge of the property had been converted into a sophisticated cannabis farm, complete with an irrigation system and lighting. …
