Lambert Adds Security Screening Lane in Terminal 2

St. Louis Lambert International Airport began this week using an added security lane in its Terminal 2 to help handle increasing peak-hour passenger loads.

The new seventh lane is one of three used by the Transportation Security Administration's expedited pre-check program. The four other lanes are used for standard screening.

Airport officials said the extra lane accommodated the ongoing expansion of flights by Terminal 2's main carrier, Southwest Airlines. Terminal 2 also will handle Wow Air flights to and from Iceland that begin next month.

"The security expansion gives the TSA additional flexibility to increase passenger screenings and reduce security wait times," Lambert director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge said in a news release.

The TSA reported a 5.5 percent increase in Terminal 2 screenings last year, increasing to 2,844,701 passengers from 2,697,344 in 2016. …
