Charges laid in 'targeted' shooting

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Charges that include four counts of attempted murder have been laid in what police are calling a targeted shooting at a home in southern Alberta.

Four people in a Lethbridge house escaped injury when several shots were fired on Sunday evening.

City police determined the suspect left the city soon after, but the RCMP later arrested a man near the small community of Granum, northwest of Lethbridge.

Investigators say a rifle and ammunition were found in his vehicle.

Lethbridge resident Robert John Sheppard, 32, is also facing several firearms- and weapons-related charges.

He appeared briefly in provincial court on Tuesday via closed-circuit television from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre. …
