Captured Vestibule in Offing for West View Elementary

The North Hills school board has begun the process to convert its last building to a captured vestibule.

Superintendent Patrick Mannarino said April 12 that West View Elementary - a former high school - is the only building without a captured vestibule. The work will allow visitors access to the vestibule, but not the main office unless they are buzzed in. Captured vestibules are considered to be an essential item in school security.

The board approved a $13,118 design and management contract with Thomas & Williamson for the work. The Ross firm will handle management of the project from bid specifications through construction management. The money will come from the capital improvement fund.

There is no estimate on the cost of the construction.
