Edmonton police chief to meet with NFL security staff

Edmonton's police chief says he will speak with National Football League executives about the Sept. 30 attack outside a CFL football game that injured a police officer.

Rod Knecht says he has been invited to an NFL security services meeting next month near San Diego.

Knecht says his staff have completed a review of what happened that night outside Commonwealth Stadium and the Edmonton Eskimos' game-day procedures.

An Edmonton police commission official says police have learned some lessons about the safe and efficient movement of crowds.

Four pedestrians were later hurt by a suspect in a speeding cube van hours after the police officer was attacked.

Knecht says he also hopes to learn from the NFL as Edmonton prepares to host the Grey Cup this November. …
