WASHINGTON - Attorney General Josh Hawley's U.S. Senate campaign has brought aboard Katie Walsh, a St. Louis native and former deputy chief of staff in President Donald Trump's White House, to help boost fundraising, the Post-Dispatch confirmed Friday.

The story was first reported by Politico.

Walsh was a senior operative at the Republican National Committee credited with helping Trump build the organization and fundraising infrastructure for his victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton. Walsh worked for a little over two months in the White House before leaving to advise Trump-related campaign groups.

Fundraising for Hawley, a Republican, is decisively lagging that of incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., who is one of the Democrats' most vulnerable senators up for re-election in 2018. …
