Suspect in shopping mall death arrested

EDMONTON - A suspect in the death of a flower-shop owner who intervened in an attempted theft at an Edmonton shopping mall has been arrested in northeastern Alberta.

Police say Jordan Martin Cushnie, who is 23, was taken into custody by Lac La Biche RCMP on Sunday.

He was wanted on outstanding warrants for second-degree murder, robbery and mischief.

Police say Cushnie has been returned to Edmonton and remains in police custody.

A 61-year-old man identified on social media as Iain Armstrong died on Friday -- three days after he was violently attacked while trying to stop a thief trying to steal from a vacant kiosk at Edmonton's Southgate Centre.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. …
