Residents of Wayne, south of Drumheller, Alberta, were ordered to leave their homes yesterday evening due to the threat of flooding.

The Town of Drumheller issued a mandatory evacuation order for residents and businesses in Wayne and along Hwy 10-X due to high water in the Rosebud River.

All evacuated residents were told to register at the Drumheller Stampede and Ag Society Building. (The Canadian Press)



British Columbia's Attorney General David Eby says the province will review Saskatchewan's new legislation on exporting energy products to determine if it discriminates against B-C.

While the proposed law does not mention B-C specifically, Saskatchewan has said it supports Alberta in a dispute with B-C over the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

The Saskatchewan bill would establish a permit process for people or corporations looking to export energy products outside the province.

Eby says if it's based on the Alberta legislation, it's as unconstitutional in Saskatchewan as it is in Alberta. (The Canadian Press)



An inquest has found Winnipeg police were justified in using deadly force when an officer shot and killed a suspect during an incident eight years ago.

Police were responding to a break-and-enter on May 9, 2010, when Lance Muir drove a stolen vehicle at an officer.

The officer fired four shots, and one of the bullets fatally struck Muir in the chest.

Judge Cynthia Devine said in her ruling there was nothing police could have done to change the outcome, concluding the officer's actions were appropriate, consistent with his training, and were justified. (CTV Winnipeg)



A 35-year-old man was arrested and was taken into police custody near Edmonton after an incident that resulted in students in nearby schools being kept indoors. …
