JOSE Mourinho insists it was Chelsea who decided to sell Mohamed Salah - despite previously claiming 'it was better not to have Salah back' before letting him join Roma.

The 25-year-old has scored a remarkable 43 goals in 47 games for Liverpool this season.

Mourinho took Salah to Chelsea in 2013 but the Egyptian made just 19 appearances in his time at Stamford Bridge.

Following a loan move to Fiorentina, Chelsea then allowed Salah to join Roma on another loan deal with a view to making it permanent in August, 2015.

At the time, Mourinho claimed he saw Salah's future 'elsewhere' and that he would leave 'either on loan or sold with an offer we are happy to accept' given that the club had 'five wingers'. He even went as far to say it was 'better not to have Salah back'. …
