NAT073 - (Boat-Harbour-Cleanup) HALIFAX x-12s. The Nova Scotia government has announced details of the environmental assessment process to clean up Boat Harbour, the wastewater lagoons of the Northern Pulp mill. Environment Minister Iain Rankin says it's the biggest cleanup project since the Sydney Tar Ponds. He says the project will meet strict environmental standards but he wouldn't commit to a price tag. TAG: The project is being paid for by the province, while Ottawa is expected to contribute toward the cleanup. Northern Pulp is not expected to shoulder any of the cleanup costs. The company is currently working on a new effluent treatment facility to replace Boat Harbour. …
