Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said the military is ready to help flood victims in New Brunswick if asked to respond.

The offer came yesterday as New Brunswick's Emergency Measures Organization issued warnings that flooding is expected to continue along the Saint John River from Fredericton down to the Saint John area for at least the next five days.

It says levels could top those beyond the 2008 and 1973 floods and residents along the river's southern reaches should be "on high alert."

Saint John fire Chief Kevin Clifford says the water could rise to 6.6 metres above sea level on Sunday.

Water levels are so high that Saint John's famous Reversing Falls are not reversing. (3)



One of U-S President Donald Trump's newest lawyers says the president reimbursed his own personal lawyer for 130-thousand dollars in hush money paid to a porn actress days before the 2016 presidential election.

The surprising comments by Rudy Giuliani last night on Fox News appear to contradict Trump's own statements several weeks ago, when he said he didn't know about the payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels.

The former New York City mayor said the president had repaid personal lawyer Michael Cohen over several months, indicating the payments continued through at least the presidential transition, if not into his presidency -- but insists it was not "campaign money." (3)



U-S President Donald Trump's legal team is going through another shakeup as it grapples with the special counsel's probe into Russian election meddling.

One lawyer is out -- Ty Cobb, who has been the administration's point person dealing with Robert Mueller's investigation, is retiring at month's end.
