News /Murcia Flights Still On

Article excerpt

JET2.COM will continue to fly to the Murcia region of Spain, despite the closure of San Javier Airport.

The airport is set to close this November, after which the airline will operate flights from Manchester and Leeds Bradford Airports to Corvera Airport instead, starting in March 2019.

It comes as a result of the company working closely with both airports as well as the Murcia Regional Government.

The company's operation to San Javier will operate as normal throughout this summer.

From March/April 2019, flights will operate to Corvera Airport from Leeds Bradford and Manchester Airports, with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays customers at both bases continuing to have access to flights and package holidays to Murcia.

The destination features a number of resorts, including Costa Calida (the warm coast) Mar Menor and Murcia City.

Corvera Airport is located 19 kilometres from Murcia City and 28 kilometres from the Costa Calida coast.

Flights from Leeds Bradford will start operating to Corvera from March 29, 2019, with three weekly services on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays operating until October 25, 2019.

Flights from Manchester will start operating to Corvera from April 1, 2019, with three weekly services also on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays also operating until October 25, 2019.

The company has more than 55,000 seats on sale to and from Corvera Airport.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: "We are very impressed with the facilities at Corvera Airport, and we have been working hard to ensure that customers receive the same friendly welcome and VIP customer experience that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is famous for.

"In the meantime our Summer 18 operation to San Javier will continue as normal."

Manuel Fernando-Delgado, managing director of tourism - Murcia Region, said: "We are very excited about Jet2.com and Jet2holidays choosing to operate at our new airport in Summer 2019.

"It is truly rewarding to see a prestigious company such as Jet2.com and Jet2holidays being impressed with our airport facilities, which shall drive tourism growth and enhance connectivity in Costa Cálida."
