Giggs 'Shocked' over Former Manager's Illness

UNITED great Ryan Giggs has sent his best wishes to Sir Alex Ferguson as he admits it was a 'huge shock' when he heard the news.

Ferguson underwent emergency brain surgery on Saturday and Giggs was quick to express support for his former boss.

"It was a huge shock as the news filtered in," Giggs explained. "But I gather that the operation has been a success. I think the next couple of days are crucial.

"I'm hoping he pulls through for a full recovery and my best wishes go out to all his family."

Ferguson remains in intensive care in hospital after his surgery and Phil Jones has also sent his support to his former manager.

Jones was signed by Ferguson in 2011 and the England defender has described the 76-year-old as a father figure. …
