OLDHAM boss Scott Naylor found plenty of positives in his side's 28-12 victory over Newcastle - but the performance wasn't necessarily one of them.

"After winning at Workington in the previous game, the right result was the most important thing for us in this one," said the Roughyeds coach.

It was a third successive Betfred League 1 success and with Hemel Stags and West Wales Raiders - the competition's two winless sides - next up, Naylor is looking to build on recent result and extend the winning run in the coming weeks.

"Overall, we never looked like losing.

"We were the stronger team. We were solid, we played it the right way, we took our chances and we put Newcastle under a lot of pressure.

"It was a good day all-round for us - no injuries, two more league points, and lots of lads who are desperate to play, but who are waiting for game time. …
