Construction Begins on New Cafe at Base of Gateway Arch Set to Open July 4

The Arch Cafe, a restaurant being built at the base of the Gateway Arch, will have seating for 28 in the cafe and an additional 96 in the common area, the Spiegelglass Construction Co. said Wednesday.

The St. Louis-based firm is starting construction on the 1,600-square-foot cafe this week, it said in a statement. It's slated to open July 4, one day after the Arch will reopen its museum and visitor center after a $380 million renovation.

The Arch Cafe's menu will include St. Louis-style ribs, hamburgers, panini sandwiches and toasted ravioli, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options. It will serve locally sourced foods, organic produce and have a coffee bar, vending machines and box lunches for groups, according to Spiegelglass.
