Pam Hupp's Lawyers Want Evidence of Two Other Deaths Barred from Her Murder Trial

ST. CHARLES COUNTY - Lawyers for Pam Hupp, who is facing a murder charge in a 2016 fatal shooting here, are seeking to block jurors from hearing any evidence about two other deaths.

In court filings, defense lawyers say that any evidence related to the 2011 fatal stabbing of Elizabeth "Betsy" Faria in Lincoln County and the death of Hupp's mother, Shirley Neumann, 77, in St. Louis County, should be barred from the trial as unrelated to the charge Hupp is facing.

Hupp fatally shot Louis Gumpenberger, 33, on Aug. 16, 2016. Hupp told police that Gumpenberger was trying to kidnap her. Prosecutors say she killed him to divert suspicion from herself amid a reinvestigation of Faria's death.

Russell Faria was convicted of his wife's murder, then acquitted in a 2015 retrial after an appeal that argued in part that he should have been allowed to point at Hupp as an alternate suspect. …
