CP advisory on upcoming G7 stories



The Canadian Press recently visited the Charlevoix region northeast of Quebec City ahead of next month's G7 summit. Reporter-editor Giuseppe Valiante has written three stories that will move on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 4 a.m. They will be accompanied by photos taken by CP photographer Ryan Remiorz and one of them will have an accompanying video. The Ottawa bureau is also moving a story Tuesday about the Liberals spending $1.6 million on an exhibit to showcase Canada at the G7 media centre.

LA MALBAIE, Que. ­-- Federal government officials secretly visited Charlevoix's Manoir Richelieu three times before choosing the site for the G7 summit on June 8-9. The hotel's general manager says its impeccable service will impress the seven world leaders when they arrive. While a steel fence has been erected around the property to isolate the hotel during the summit, La Malbaie's mayor says police will set up checkpoints along the highways heading into town. …
