TORONTO - EDITORS AND NEWS DIRECTORS:

The provincial election in Ontario is set for June 7, with the official campaign starting tomorrow.

The Canadian Press is planning daily comprehensive coverage of the campaign on multiple platforms -- print, digital, video, audio and photos.

We'll have reporters on the Liberal and New Democrat buses each day, and we're working with the Progressive Conservative campaign team to ensure we get their itinerary in advance so we can arrange coverage of leader Doug Ford's scheduled events.

The plan is to have one main story each day that will be frequently updated with the major developments from the campaign trail, with sidebars as warranted. We'll also have explainers on some of the main issues at play in this election, such as hydro, provincial debt, cap and trade, etc.

Other value-added files we're planning include trail tale-type briefs from our road warriors, daily updates on the parties' campaign promises, and a "Where The Leaders Are" brief that will move at 4 a.m. daily.

Tomorrow, we'll have profiles on Liberal Leader Kathleen Wynne, Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford and NDP Leader Andrea Horwath.

We'll also have a story on two new pieces of technology being implemented in this election that officials say will speed up the voting and ballot-counting process.

In addition to spot news coverage, we'll have a weekly feature called "The View From'' -- a five-part series with photos, video and graphics that looks at the range of issues voters across the province care about. …
