KANANASKIS, Alta. - If you go down to a golf course in southwestern Alberta today, you could be in for a big surprise!

The Kananaskis Country Golf Course is welcoming golfers back for the first time in almost five years, but they will be hitting the links under a grizzly bear warning.

The club's Mt. Lorette and Mt. Kidd courses were ravaged by flooding in 2013 but have now been restored.

Several trails in the area around the course have been closed due to bear activity.

Signs have been placed warning golfers and visitors of the potential for encounters with grizzlies.

Course general manager Darren Robinson says golfers and bears are unlikely to startle one another given the ample visibility on the course. …
