CITY POLICE OFFICER STOPS WOMAN'S SUICIDE ATTEMPT

A Pittsburgh police officer stopped a woman from an apparent suicide attempt early Saturday, pulling her to safety before she could leap off the McKees Rocks Bridge.

Officers Kevin Clark and Dave Syska responded to a call around 1:45 a.m. that a woman was straddling the railing of the bridge on the McKees Rocks side. Upon arrival, they saw the woman with one leg over the railing, preparing to jump but Officer Clark ran to her, grabbed her and pulled her to safety. Officer Syska helped calm her on the sidewalk.

Pittsburgh EMS responded and transported the woman, a Coraopolis resident, to a hospital for evaluation. Officer Clark rode with EMS and was treated for a right hand injury he suffered while saving the woman. …
