More than 27-hundred people were injured.

Monday's contrasting events -- the embassy opening and the deadliest day of cross-border violence since 2014 -- are fuelling global concern that President Trump's policies are tipping the Middle East into deeper conflict.

Trump's decision to relocate the U-S embassy from Tel Aviv to contested Jerusalem has infuriated Palestinians and experts say it has damaged Washington's stature as a mediator between them and Israel. (1)

(Talks-NAFTA)

U-S President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have spoken by phone to discuss the chances of wrapping up talks soon for a renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement.

American officials are sounding less than bullish about the prospects of a NAFTA deal by week's end, which is considered the unofficial deadline for finalizing an agreement this year ahead of Mexican and U-S elections.

High-level negotiators don't have a meeting set for this week, and Trump's commerce secretary, Wilbur Ross, has told the National Press Club in Washington he doesn't think any of the "big hot topics" have been resolved yet. (1)
