ST. LOUIS > Man who ran out of gas is shot - A man who ran out of gas in the middle of a St. Louis street early Wednesday was shot in the back by two men who stopped to confront him, police say.

The victim, 21, told police he ran out of gas in the middle of Ferry Street at about 2 a.m. Wednesday. Two men in a silver Kia Optima pulled up alongside him and asked him what he was doing. The victim told them he lived in the neighborhood.

The driver of the Kia parked the car, and two men got out and began shooting at the victim in the 2100 block of Ferry Street.

Police say the victim got out of his car, ran to his home nearby and called police. Police found him suffering from gunshot wounds to the back. He was stable at a hospital, police said.

One suspect was described as a black man with a heavy build, 26 or 27 years old with a dark complexion and mohawk-style haircut. …
