WASHINGTON > Ex-St. Louis police chief gets new job - Former St. Louis police Chief Sam Dotson has been named the new head of security for the Washington Nationals baseball team.

Dotson, 48, abruptly retired on Mayor Lyda Krewson's first day in office last April. He was given a year's salary and will draw a police pension.

He had served as the city's chief since January 2013 and retired with 22 years on the force. He is eligible for a pension of about 48 percent of his average salary of about $127,000 during his final three years.

He will begin his new job April 5.
