NAT142 - (Mba-Spotlight-Hunting) WINNIPEG. x-08s. Manitoba has introduced legislation to ban hunting with spotlights at night, but some Indigenous groups are saying it infringes on treaty rights. The bill would ban the practice in southern Manitoba, except for Indigenous people who are granted a permit. They will only be able to hunt in a specific area. Sustainable Development Minister Rochelle Squires says the government respects the right of Indigenous people to hunt without a license. ("..a balance.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)
