Outfield Prospect Florial Requires Hamate Surgery

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Highly-touted Yankees outfield prospect Estevan Florial requires hamate surgery on his right hand.

It's an injury that will cost him at least a month and could possibly keep the fleet center fielder sidelined longer. Florial, 20, came out of Thursday's game at Class A Tampa with soreness in his right wrist.

"Frustrating a little bit, but it's a little bump in the road," said Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who experienced a similar surgery as a player and was sidelined for four weeks, after being hit by a pitch.

Over his first 36 games at Class A Tampa, Florial has yet to take off. He is slashing .246/.353/.343, with one home run, six doubles, two triples and 10 RBI in 134 at-bats, with five stolen bases.

At Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Brandon Drury has resumed playing third base following two days of scheduled medical treatment related to the migraines/blurred vision – a condition that caused him to be placed on the 10-day disabled list last month. …
