Shoulder Injury but No Surgery for Schwartz

Blues forward Jaden Schwartz suffered a right shoulder injury Thursday in Canada's 5-4 overtime victory over Russia in the quarterfinals of the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship. According to Blues general manager Doug Armstrong, it's not a long-term injury and will not require surgery.

Armstrong said via text Friday that Schwartz will be ready for Blues camp "without question."

And that obviously is welcome news for a Blues team that already has Vladimir Tarasenko (shoulder), Robby Fabbri (knee ), Jay Bouwmeester (hip) and Carl Gunnarsson (knee) spending the offseason recovering and rehabbing from surgery.

Less than two minutes after assisting on a Kyle Turris goal that gave Canada a 3-2 lead, Schwartz was checked into the boards with just over nine minutes to play in the game played in Copenhagen, Denmark. …
