'Chemical' Alert as Families Sprayed with Powder

A STREET was sealed off after a man and several cars were sprayed with a unknown powder by two men on a motorbike.

The man was covered with yellow powder as he walked down Evesham Road in Blackley at around 9.45am on Saturday.

Families are also reported to have been covered in the powder and one witness said they had to remove clothing as a precaution.

There are no reported injuries and the powder is being tested by the fire service.

There were several road closures in place around Evesham Road, including Charlestown Road.

It was the second incident involving powder being thrown within 24 hours. On Friday night, white powder was thrown at a police officer and his car on Moss Brook Road, in Harpurhey.

The officer was checked at the scene by paramedics but he was not injured. The powder was examined and found not to be noxious or harmful. …
