CHILLIWACK, B.C. - Jonah Capriotti's last outing left the Wellington Dukes on the verge of elimination at the 2018 RBC Cup, making Saturday's redemption performance all that much sweeter for the 19-year-old goaltender.

Capriotti stopped 50-of-51 shots as Wellington upset the previously undefeated Wenatchee Wild 2-1 for a spot in the final of Canada's national junior A hockey championship.

The Dukes will face the host Chilliwack Chiefs in Sunday's championship. The Chiefs toppled the Ottawa Jr. Senators 3-2 in Saturday's other semifinal at the five-team tournament.

On Thursday, Wenatchee chased Capriotti from the net with four goals on 18 shots en route to a 7-1 win, a 4-0-0 record in round-robin play and the No. 1 seed entering the semifinals.

The Dukes finished the preliminary round 1-2-1 and only qualified for the final four when Chilliwack earned a 4-1 victory to eliminate the Steinbach Pistons, who would have bumped Wellington out of the playoff round with a victory over the Chiefs. …
