Cranes Turn to Arena in Unique Tribute to the City

ON a day full of remarkable moments of solidarity, kindness, defiance and remembrance it was a sight that many could have missed.

As the city came to a standstill for an impeccably observed minute's silence, cranes on construction sites slowly turned to face Manchester Arena.

And it wasn't just Manchester.

Workmen constructing a new football stadium in London also turned their cranes to the north.

Lee Coburn, whose team is working on constructing Tottenham Hotspur's new ground in north London, turned all of their cranes to face Manchester at 2.30pm.

Images posted on social media by @GovanEmerald showed workers on a building site near the Manchester One building hanging a 'We Love Manchester' heart from their cranes, and another with '22' on the sign. …
