Rachel Notley isn't mincing words about why she's skipping the Western premiers' conference that opens with an event tonight in Yellowknife ahead of tomorrow's meeting.

In a tweet last night, the Alberta premier says it would be -- quote -- "exceptionally tone deaf for anyone to think we could politely discuss pharmacare and cannabis when one of the players is hard at work trying to choke the economic lifeblood of the province and the country."

Notley was referring to the stalled multi-billion-dollar Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, which B-C Premier John Horgan opposes and is seeking clarity from the courts on some environmental concerns.

With Kinder Morgan's May 31st deadline for assurances coming up, Notley says her only priority right now is to make sure the pipeline gets built. (4)

Two key players in a sophisticated multi-million-dollar stock market scheme will be sentenced today in Halifax for manipulating the share price of local e-learning company Knowledge House.

Former president and C-E-O Daniel Potter and lawyer Blois Colpitts were found guilty in March, nearly 17 years after the company's dramatic collapse.

The fraudulent stock-market activities cost investors millions.

In a 207-page ruling, the judge said the pair knowingly carried out the fraud in a regulated securities market.(4)

Facebook C-E-O Mark Zuckerberg faces senior European Union lawmakers today to answer questions about a scandal over the alleged misuse of the data of tens of millions of Facebook users.

In testimony to be broadcast live, Zuckerberg will be questioned by leaders of the European Parliament's main party groups and committees.

Zuckerberg testified last month to the U-S Congress, but sent a senior official to speak to Britain's parliament and offered to do the same in Brussels.

The E-U assembly insisted on hearing him in person. …
