AN elderly woman was punched in the face before a robber stole her car in Stockport.

The 87-year-old victim was approached by a man while she was gardening on Clifton Park Road, in Davenport, at around 4pm.

The man was very friendly and said he was desperate for some water as he had been walking a long way.

She went to get him some water from inside and the man then left.

He returned another two times before coming back at about 8.30pm when he rang the woman's doorbell.

When the pensioner opened the door he pushed her before punching her in the face.

The robber then stole her purse and car keys, before driving off from the scene in a red Honda Jazz car.

The woman needed stitches in her face and was left with a bruised arm. Police say the car has not yet been recovered following the robbery on Sunday, May 20. …
