Small plane lands on freeway in Utah

Utah authorities say there were no injuries when a small plane made an emergency landing on a major freeway.

Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Andrew Battenfield says the single-engine plane went underneath an overpass in Ogden on Saturday either before or after landing and collided with a car.

Battenfield says it's not immediately known why the pilot had to make the emergency landing and that there may have been a second person on the aircraft.

Witness stops man with knife on school bus - Authorities say a California man barged onto a school bus carrying about a dozen children and held a knife to the driver's head before witnesses dragged him away.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Saturday that parents and others in the community of Campo helped the children escape out the rear emergency exit.

Sheriff's Sgt. William Uelen says the driver opened the door Friday morning for the man, thinking he was a parent.

A parent flagged down a passing driver who jumped on the bus and helped pry the knife from the man's hands.

Uelen says no one was injured. A suspect has been arrested.

Glass panel falls, kills worker at New York skyscraper site - Police say a glass panel fell on two workers during construction of one of New York City's tallest skyscrapers, killing one and sending the other to a hospital.

It happened about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at a work site on West 57th Street, half a block from Carnegie Hall.

Police say a 67-year-old security guard was killed, and a 27-year-old construction worker was hospitalized with injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening.
