Hunt for Rapist after 1.30am Attack on Man in Ginnel

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man was raped in a ginnel.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday.

He was walking along Cavendish Road in Stretford when he reached an alleyway near to North Lonsdale Street, police said.

He was then approached by a man and raped.

Detectives are appealing for a potentially 'key witness' to come forward.

A taxi driver is understood to have driven past the alley where the man was set upon. The attacker ran away when the vehicle drove past, police said. Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area around 1.30am on Sunday.

Det Sgt Dave Jones said: "Although this happened in the early hours of the morning, it was bank holiday weekend so there may have been more people in the area than usual. …
