Frontier to Connect Pittsburgh to San Diego Once Again

For the first time in more than a decade, Pittsburgh travelers will have nonstop service to San Diego.

Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday that it will begin a twice-weekly flight to the southern California city on Aug. 13.

To be offered Monday and Friday, the flights will depart Pittsburgh International Airport at 9:46 a.m. and land in San Diego at 11:52 a.m. The return flights will leave San Diego International Airport at 10:17 a.m. and arrive in Pittsburgh at 6:42 p.m.

The flights will be the first to San Diego since 2007, when the former US Airways - now part of American Airlines - offered the service.

Allegheny County Airport Authority officials, which operate Pittsburgh International, have been lobbying airlines for some time to begin service to the popular tourist destination. It has been one of the priorities of authority CEO Christina Cassotis. …
