A Toronto police spokesman says a professional standards investigation has been launched into an email alleged to have been sent by a Progressive Conservative candidate in the Ontario election.

Roshan Nallaratnam, who is the Tory candidate for the riding of Scarborough-Guildwood, has been a Toronto police officer for the past nine years.

He did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the email made public by the New Democrats.

The N-D-P says the email, which says -- quote -- "don't do nasty campaign against me. I will teach the lesson after election" was sent to 96 people, many from the Tamil community. (The Canadian Press)



A street in Hamilton has taken top spot on the Canadian Automobile Association's worst roads in Ontario list for the second year in a row.

The C-A-A says Burlington Street East has risen steadily in the Top 10 list after first appearing in 2009.

County Road 49 in Prince Edward County came in second, while Duckworth Street in Barrie was third in the annual list.

Avondale Road in Belleville and Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto came in fourth and fifth, out of more than 35-hundred roads nominated from across the province. (The Canadian Press)



An Ontario murder trial has heard from the coroner who initially ruled the death of aviation executive Wayne Millard a suicide.

Dr. David Evans says he believed there was a "reasonable chance" that Millard killed himself, but that it was possible someone else pulled the trigger of the gun that was found next to the body.

Evans said he ruled the death a suicide within two days of Millard's body being found in his home, but noted that a request for a toxicology test at the time was turned down.

Millard's son, 32-year-old Dellen Millard, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in his father's 2012 death. …
