P13 - (G7-Protests) QUEBEC CITY. x-10s. Police in Quebec City say they are ready for mass protests in the city as the G-7 summit gets underway 140 kilometres away in the resort town of La Malbaie. Quebec police commander Rejean Pleau says the force has learned from previous protests how best to control demonstrators. That's why, he says, fences have been erected around protest sites, and police are using a less harmful type of tear gas. ("..have to face.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)

TAG: Police also say they have what are called rubber-ball blast grenades for crowd control. But Pleau won't say whether, or how, they intend to use them. Several home and shop owners in Quebec City's historic district have barricaded windows plywood in anticipation of the anti-G7 protests. …
