NAT157 - (Mba-Dogs-Fire) WINNIPEG. x-11s. A Manitoba woman is pleading with Indigenous Services Canada for help feeding hundreds of dogs left behind after two First Nation communities were evacuated because of fire. Debra Vandekerkhove (van-DEE'-ker-cove), the director of Norway House Animal Rescue, says about 700 dogs were left in Pauingassi (pawn-GASS'-ee) and Little Grand Rapids First Nations after a wildfire last month. She says it's really stressful for evacuees not knowing how their pets are doing. ("..be OK.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)

TAG: The dog rescue is working with the Red Cross to fly food to the communities, but Vandekerkhove says there are very few people left to distribute it.
