Webb in the Driving Seat for Shot at Career Best in le Mans

MANCHESTER racing driver Oliver Webb is gearing up for his fifth appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend.

Webb comes off the back of a strong opening race of the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship season at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium, where he - along with ByKolles team-mates Dominik Kraihamer and Tom Dillmann - finished fourth in the top-level LMP1 category.

"So far we've only had one race, but trouble free is the way to sum it up," said Webb.

This year the LMP1 class is expected to be more competitive, despite the exits of Porsche and Audi in recent years leaving just Toyota as the only factory-backed entry.

A pair of Formula 1 world champions have also joined the class for this year, with Fernando Alonso racing for Toyota and Jenson Button driving for Russian outfit SMP Racing. …
